Wonderful Weld County
Island Grove Regional Park was once used by the Ute and Arapahoe Indians as a campground as they followed game across the plains. In the late 1860s, Nathaniel Meeker designated the area as one of two parks in the town he founded, Union Colony. Today, the park is owned and managed by both the City of Greeley and Weld County and is home to the Greeley Stampede and the Weld County Fair as well as other notable events.
